Only in our wildest dreams growing up did we ever expect to see the best international teams take on the best club teams in the world. The only way we'd have been able to view such a spectacle was sat at the end of a video game controller plugged into the family TV.

Well these games actually happened! And below is 5 times a clubs team played an international team. No spoilers necessary here, so sit back and take in some fantastic football.

France Vs Arsenal - 1989

10 Years later the Arsenal team itself would have it's very own French contingent and French manager but George Graham's astute and solid defence took on Platini's France with the game boasting the likes of Merson, Papin, Blanc, Adams and Rocastle.

The friendly took place at Highbury under the lights on valentines day 1989.

Brazil Vs Barcelona - 1999

If you want star power, this fixture had it. Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Romario, Roberto Carlos, Kluivert, Enrique, Figo, Guardiola and even a young Xavi on the becnh for Barcelona.

While a friendly on paper, all you need to do is look for Philip Cocu to get absolutely banjaxed with an almighty two footer about 10 minutes in!

Brazil Vs AC Milan -

From playing his last ever game against Brazil to becoming their manager, this was Carlo Ancelotti's farewell to his playing career when a star studded AC Milan went up against a formidable Brazil team that was 2 years shy of world cup glory in USA in 1994.

Keep your eyes peeled for Van Basten, Gullit, Baresi and Maldini going into battle against Aldair, Bebeto and Dunga.

Bradford City Vs England - 1986

England came to Valley Parade in 1986 in a world cup warm up but also the re-opening of the Bradford stadium after the horrendous fire the year prior.

Footage is hard to come by but there's a snippet in the video.

Italy Vs Fluminense

Italy's final warm up match for the world cup in 2014 saw them play in Rio against Fluminense in a game that goals galore and boasted plenty of changes.

All in vein for Italy who went out at the first hurdle with England after disappointing World Cup campaigns.
